Marolo distillery was founded in 1977, and has made high quality, terroir-emphasising grappas ever since.
This is one such grappa, which begins its life as pomace of the Barbera grape (the third most popular red wine grape in Italy), used to make Barolo D’Asti at the San Bastian winery in the Piedmont region, which is local to Marolo. This is a single estate Grappa.
It is then gently distilled in bain marie stills, which retains the softer flavours of the pomace. The spirit has been matured in former fortified wine casks, developing a wonderful complexity.
This grappa offers flavours of light flowers, grapes, vanilla, spice, green vines, wine, toffee, and gentle oak.
Another top notch grappa from his fascinating distillery, each bottle is labelled by hand.
