This striking looking grappa is produced by the Marolo distillery, which has been creating terroir-centric grappas since 1977.
Whilst the majority of Marolo’s releases focus on grape pomace from their province of Piedmont, for this bottling they have gone further afield, to Tuscany. Here they have sourced Sangiovese grape pomace, from Brunello wines, from the Gotha area.
This marc has been distilled in Marolo’s small bain marie stills, in small batches. It is presented unaged, with the flavour of the pomace taking centre stage.
The bottling offers notes of violet, honeysuckle, orange blossom, perfumed grapes and vine, cut grass, some slight minerality, peaches, apples and floral honey.
The bottles immediately catch the eye, and are each hand blown, coming with their own presentation box.
