A delightful grappa made with the fragrant Gewürztraminer grape.

This bottling is made by the Marolo company, who have been creating grappas since 1977. Marolo (based in the Piedmont region of Northern Italy) have a firm belief in terroir, and produce many single grape and single estate bottlings.

Gewürztraminer is typically found in the cooler regions of Germany and France, and produces and off-dry wine with a powerful lychee aroma. The grape pomace for this bottling has been sourced from the South Tyrol region of Northern Italy – an area with historic ties to Austria (German remains the most widely spoken language).

The pomace used for this bottling has been held in oak barrels, before being distilled in a traditional single alembic. This grappa is unaged, but has been rested in stainless steel tanks which prevent oxidation and ensure the flavours of the spirit have fully developed.

The final product is a bursting, fruity grappa, with notes of pear, lychee, cherries, grape juice, rose, elderflower, peppery spice, and some slight caramel.

An excellent grappa which offers a snapshot of one of the world’s great grape varieties.
