A grappa from the terrior obsessed Marolo company, who have been producing the stuff for other 35 years.
This time round they have used pomace from red Nebbiolo grapes, used for Barbaresco wine, which is produced in the Piedmont region of Northern Italy.
The pomace is gently distilled in Marolo distinctive bain marie stills, which prevents its gentle flavours from being destroyed. It is then rested in stainless steel tanks prior to bottling, to avoid oxidation and ensure harmony of flavour.
The grappa delivers flavours of powerful red grapes and apples, with plenty of spirituous black pepper spice, slight oil, biscuit, apricots, citrus rind and earthy green wood.
Bottled at 44% ABV, this allows the flavours of the grappa to fully assert themselves.
Another fascinating, small batch expression from this most attentive of grappa distillers.
