A delicious aged grappa from Villa de Varda, a Trentino based distillery that specializes in producing delectable grappas.
This bottling has been made with Pinot Nero, or Pinot Noir, grape pomace. One of the most popular red wine grapes at the moment, Pinot Nero produces fruity, medium bodied wines with some slight barnyard flavours.
Villa de Varda collect their pomace extremely fresh, and ferment using specially selected yeasts. Distillation occurs in traditional copper discontinuous stills. This grappa has been aged for a minimum of three years in medium charred oak barrels.
The result is a well-balanced grappa, with the fruitier flavours of the grape in harmony with the spice and sweetness of the oak. The spirit offers flavours of vanilla, toffee, spice, red grapes, cherries, raspberries, strawberries, oak, citrus, dried fruit, flowers and toasted nuts.
A lovely after-dinner drink.
