A single grape grappa from the Trentino based distillery Villa de Varda.
For this bottling they’ve used Pinot Nero grape pomace. This red wine grape is known for producing fruity, medium bodied wines with low tannins and occasional “barnyard” flavours.
Villa de Varda use very fresh grape pomace, sometimes still wet with juice. Fermentation uses specially selected yeasts, and the grappa is distilled in traditional discontinuous stills.
This unaged grappa offers a intense flavour of the grape pomace, with no interference from oak maturation.
As a result this grappa offers up notes of yeasty bread, red grapes, cherries, blackcurrant, raspberry, hay, vanilla and pepper.
Bright and enjoyable, this would be perfect served before a good Italian meal.
