Another excellent grappa from Piedmont-based distillery, Marolo. Marolo have a superb reputation for producing some of the best terroir-centric grappa around.

It is bottles like this that have built this reputation, created for “friends” of the distillery: that is to say, long time admirers of Marolo’s products. This bottling is made with Nebbiolo pomace, used to create Barolo wine (which is also produced in Piedmont).

A limited edition, 2010 vintage, the pomace is of one harvest and distilling season. Marolo have distilled the marc in bain marie stills, and aged the spirit in small oak barriques, imparting terrific flavour and complexity to the grappa. It was bottled in 2015.

The grappa offers notes of liqourice, anise, almond, dried fruits, green wood, grapes, vanilla, toasty oak, slight spice, cream and honey.

Bottled at 42% ABV for a slight kick in intensity and mouthfeel.

Beautfiully presented in a blue bottle with gold details, and a handsome presentation box.
