Another excellent grappa from Paolo Marolo and his team. First established in 1977, Marolo have made it their mission to produce excellent, small batch grappas with a strong sense of terroir.
This is another such bottling, using red Nebbiolo grape pomace from Barolo wine produced in the region local to Marolo, Piedmont, found in Italy’s north.
The pomace is selected from small scale producers who share Marolo’s belief in terroir. It is then gently distilled in bain marie stills, to ensure that the pomace’s delicate flavours are not altered. This spirit has been aged for 12 years in oak barriques, giving it a spectacular complexity and depth.
The grappa delivers flavours of roasted almond and hazelnut, caramel, milky coffee, chocoalter, cream, honey, red grapes, berries, some peppery alcohol and wet wood.
Bottled at 50% ABV, this is an intense and satisfying grappa.
The final product is beautifully presented with Marolo’s classic kingfisher on the label.
