A high quality, reasonably aged Genever from masterful Dutch distillers, Zuidam.
This Genever is made with a base of malt, rye and maize, ensuring a more characterful spirit. Interestingly, the grains used for this bottling are traditionally milled by Zuidam’s windmill. The spirit has been distilled three times in traditional red copper pot stills. A portion of the spirit is then redistilled with botanicals including juniper, liquorice root and aniseed. The Genever is then diluted, and aged for three years in new American oak barrels.
The final result is a well matured Genever that offers up notes of toffee, oak, vanilla, bittersweet juniper, liquorice, chopped herbs, earthy spice and rye bread.
A lovely genever, which offers enough complexity and depth to stand up to single malt whiskies and Cognacs. Drink neat.
