A well aged Grappa from the Nardini company, who have been making the spirit for over 225 years. Indeed, they were the first distillery to properly market aged grappa, way back in the 1940s.
This bottling sits at the top of the Bortolo Nardini Selezione range, which bears the name of the distiller who founded this company, way back in 1779. It remains in Nardini family hands.
The spirit is produced with grapes from different vineyards, chosen for their harmony and “smoothness”. The spirit is distilled in a vacuum-sealed still and a column still. The grappa is aged for one year in stainless steel vats, which prevents oxidation and allows the flavours to integrate, before a further 15 years of aging in oak barrels sourced from the Slavonia region of Croatia.
The final result is a supple, complex grappa, with bright flavours of ripe grapes, stone fruit, raisins, cinnamon, vanilla, bananas, leather, oak, green wood, tobacco and nutmeg.
Beautifully presented in a bottle that recalls the design of the architecture of the Nardini headquarters.
