A youthful grappa from the Nardini company, who have been producing Grappa for over 225 years. They were the first company to sell aged grappa in earnest, back in the 1940s.
This is the entry-level bottling in their Selezione Bortolo Nardini range, which is named after the founder of the distillery, who established Nardini in 1779. The distillery remains family-run.
This grappa is made with grape pomace from multiple vineyards, which is distilled in a combination of vacuum and column stills. It has been aged for three years in oak from the Slavonia region of Croatia.
The final result is a youthful, bright grappa, which has been slightly rounded by the oak maturation, whilst retaining it herbaceous character. Drinkers can expect flavours of ripe cherries, vanilla, chocolate, mint, toffee, nutmeg, grapes, green wood and slight oak.
An excellent introduction to this high quality range. The bottle’s design is created to recall the architecture of Nardini’s headquarters.
