A stupendous, well-aged grappa from the innovative Marolo distillery, who have made it their priority to showcase the affects that different, localized grape pomace varieties have on their spirit.
This time round they are using red Nebbiolo grapes from Barbaresco. This pomace has been gathered from Rabajà vineyards and winemakers that share the same high quality, artisanal spirit of Marolo. Being a 2006 vintage, all the pomace used was produced in this harvest and wine making season.
The pomace is distilled in bain marie stills, which are run very gently so as not to damage the flavours too much. The spirit has then been aged in small oak barrels for twelve years, giving it an enormous oak flavour and complexity.
This grappa possesses flavours of luscious red grape, cinnamon, nutmeg, oak, cherries, marzipan, apricot, dried fruits, earth, green wood, peppery alcohol, red apple, chocolate, thick vanilla and fudgy sweetness.
Extremely aromatic and woody, this grappa is bottled at 45% ABV for a more intense drinking experience
A grappa as complex and characterful as any Scotch or Cognac of the same age, this is an illustration of just how good this spirit can be.
Only 1835 bottles were produced, each with its own handsome presentation box.
