Jean Fillioux is a traditional, family owned Cognac-house which has been producing some of the very finest spirit around since 1880, over five generations. Even now, the current co-manager of the estate has been in his role since 1948, bringing nearly 70 years of expertise to the position. The Domaine de La Pouyade, the name of the family house, makes a superb quality of Grande Champagne Cognac, which is widely recognised as the finest cru in the region. The estate is relatively small at only 63 acres of vineyard, meaning that each of their Cognacs is somewhat limited. Rarer still are single cask expressions, such as this one, cask number 85. This bottling was selected by Maurice van Wees of the Van Wees independent bottlers, and was drawn from the French Oak cask in September 2016, into just 504 bottles. A truly unique expression from a fantastic distillery, and a real treat for Cognac fans, who should move fast with so few bottlings available.
