There’s always something special about a good Cognac in a classic, teardrop shaped decanter-style bottle. Jean Fillioux are doubtlessly one of the best producers in the region. The estate has been family owned since 1880, with the current fourth generation manager possessing nearly 70 years of experience. Cognac Fillioux is found in the “golden triangle” area of the Grande Champagne cru. This area has the best soil for the production of Cognac, with its lime-rich, chalky earth creating the best level of acidity for spirit-making. This particular bottling sits somewhere between a VSOP and XO in age, meaning that it has a lovely level of maturity whilst retaining some of the spirit’s natural fruity sprightliness. Expect notes from dark fruits, plums and baking spices. This a fabulous Cognac that highlights the quality of Jean Fillioux’s Grande Champagne spirit, the perfect addition to any Cognac collection.
