A cracking 2010 single vintage rum from esteemed producer, Plantation (recently renamed as Planteray). This rum was produced as part of Plantation’s ‘Under the Sea’ limited edition series, and features beautiful ocean-themed bottling and packaging.

This Venezuelan rum was originally distilled at Destilería Sofa from molasses. The spirit was distilled from molasses in a traditional column still, before being aged for 8 years in 200 litre Bourbon barrels in the tropical heat of Venezuela.

The spirit was then shipped across the Atlantic ocean to undergo a secondary maturation in Jazerac, in France. Here it was matured for a further 4 years in 400 litre former Ferrand Cognac casks.

The final result is a delicate, yet complex rum which delivers notes of coffee, flowers, coconut, pineapple, banana, cream, almond, sandalwood, oak, cinnamon, nutmeg, floral honey, chocolate, hazelnut, mango and a touch of leather.

Bottled at a robust 52% ABV, this is an assertive and warming rum.
