A marvellous special release from Plantation, released to celebrate their 20th year of bottling rum. This is a combination of pot-still and column-still Bajan rums, first matured on the Caribbean island for between 12 and 20 years in ex-bourbon casks. This first maturation lends a phenomenal depth of flavour to the rum, with rich chewy caramel notes and highlights of delightful vanilla. The rum is then transported to Cognac for a further 12 to 18 months aging in smaller French oak casks, giving an extra layer of fruity complexity.
Plantation’s efforts in the previous 20 years have not gone unnoticed, with the company one of the most respected and lauded working in the rum industry today. This bottling is no exception, picking up a Gold Award in The Spirits Business’s Rum Masters competition. Meanwhile, the esteemed beverage tasting institute awarded the rum 94 points. Plantation XO is bottled in a beautiful decanter style bottle, with big bold branding that perfectly suits the flavours of this rum!
