A marvellous limited edition rum from Plantation, which recently changed its name to Planteray.
This Guyanese rum was distilled from molasses in the famous pot stills of Demerara Distillers back in 2007. The rum was initially aged in Bourbon barrels in the tropical heat of Guyana, before a second maturation in France, in Ferrand Cognac casks. In total, this spirit was aged for 15 years.
The result is a luscious and rich rum, with notes of deep brown sugar, treacle tart, dark chocolate, pineapple, pepper, sweet oak, bananas, a touch of iodine, raisins, white grapes, liquorice, cinnamon and leather.
Bottled at 51% ABV, and without colouration, this is a full bodied and powerful rum.
This particular bottling is part of the ‘Under the Sea’ collection, and is beautifully presented in packaging featuring a Caribbean subaquatic paradise!
