A well-crafted bitter liqueur from world class grappa-makers Nardini.
The bottling was first launched in 2017, so is a recent addition to Nardini’s range, as the producers have been in the game since 1779. In a way, this is a kind of premixed cocktail, with the name translating as “half and half”, as it is a mixture of their Nardini Rosso and Nardini Rabarbaro, a rhubarb based bitter liqueur. The idea is to simplify the creation of the popular ‘Mezzo e Mezzo Inglese’ cocktail, which combines red vermouth with rabarbaro and soda water.
The spirit itself serves up notes of rich rooty rhubarb, citrus rind, gentian, quinine, some herbal forest floor flavours, orange juice, liquorice and caramel sweetness.
No better to enjoy this than the way Nardini intended, over ice with a splash of soda and half a slice of orange. Enough to take you to the sun bathed piazzas of Italy!
