A high quality lemon liqueur produced by Nardini, the famed grappa-house that dates back to 1779.
This liqueur has been produced with cedro lemons, known as the Citron in English, is a large variety of citrus fruit. Indeed, the fruit is actually one of the three fundamental citrus species from which all others derive, alongside the pomelo and the mandarin. Whilst less juicy, cedro lemons are sweeter, and possess a spongy, fragrant pith prized by cuisines around the world. In Italy they are sometimes used in risottos.
Nardini have infused the fruit with a neutral Italian grain spirit, producing this zesty, bright liqueur. The producer describes this bottling as “the noble cousin to limoncello”, though Acqua di Cedro contains less sugar, has a drier overall profile and a crystal clear appearance.
The liqueur serves up a beautifully aromatic and zesty notes of lemon rind, citrus juice and lemon sherbet, with some meringue-like white sugar flavours, a little peppery spice, grain sweetness and an oily mouthfeel.
An outstanding lemon liqueur from an esteemed producer, this would elevate any cocktail that calls for Limoncello (though be sure to adjust the sugar balance).
Delicious neat but also amazing over a small amount of ice and splash of seltzer. It’s smells hot like vodka but tastes very very smooth
