Pink gin is undoubtedly one of the quintessentially British cocktails. A fine blend of gin with aromatic bitters gives this drink its distinctive rosy hue. This rendition is created by Gin Lane 1751. This company take their name from two key events in the history of gin. The first half comes from the title of Hogarth’s infamous “Gin Lane” drawing, which depicts the very worse excesses of the gin craze. The second reflects the 1751 Gin Act, which reformed the business of gin making into a legitimate industry. This gin was developed out of a partnership between excellent London bar The Bloomsbury Club and Charles Maxwell of Thames Distillers. Pink gin was originally developed to prevent seasickness, whilst balancing gins that were at the extremes of the flavour spectrum. This gin is already perfectly balanced, with a good juniper note combining wonderfully well with the baking spices of bitters. Delicious when drunk chilled.
