A high quality rum from Cane Island, this time from a single estate in Australia.
The vast majority of Cane Island’s rums have been produced in a selection of Caribbean countries, but this bottling flips the script entirely, having been made a the Beenleigh Rum Distillery. This distillery, found in Logan, Queensland, was licensed and constructed in 1884 – using molasses from nearby sugar refineries to produce their spirit.
This rum was distilled in a traditional pot still, and has been aged in former Bourbon barrels for 4 years, in the sub-tropical climate of Queensland.
The final result is a crisp, fruity rum with notes of pineapple, bananas, peaches, slight coconut, molasses, bright Bourbon oak, white chocolate, peppery spice, some subtle funkiness and a little cinnamon.
Bottled at 43% ABV for a little more warmth and body, this is an fascinating rum from a distillery not often encountered outside of Australia.
