A youthful, yet powerful rum from Cane Island, who have quickly gained a good reputation for bottling some truly excellent spirits.
This 3 year old rum is made using molasses, rather than sugar-cane juice, as is usually to be expected from a Guadeloupean rum. This spirit was distilled at Distillerie Bonne Mère, which sits alongside the Grande Riviere Goyaves in the northern half of Basse-Terre.
The rum was produced in a Column Still, and aged in former Bourbon American white oak casks.
Though quite a young rum, this bottling offers a good deal of depth and complexity, with the molasses-based spirit providing richness of flavour. Drinkers can expect bright sugar flavours, alongside some orchard and tropical fruits, a little sweet corn, vanilla and milk chocolate.
A brilliant rum which punches well above its weight.
