Bathtub Gin was the term used to describe homemade spirits made by amateurs, often with dangerous consequences, during Prohibition in America. Many classic cocktails of the era owe their experience to this amateur spirit, the other flavours added to mask the gins poor quality.
THIS Bathtub Gin however, is something entirely different, bearing little resemblance to its namesake. Created by the elusive madcap Professor Cornelius Ampleforth and his friends at Master of Malt, this is a traditionally made, cold infused gin. Starting with excellent copper-still distilled grain spirit, the Professor infuses a cornucopia of delicious botanicals, such as Coriander, Orange Peel, Cloves, Juniper, Cinnamon and Cardamom. Made in incredibly small batches, the gin is constantly sampled throughout its infusing process to ensure its quality, before being bottled in brown paper, string and wax adorned bottles- designed to reflect the Professor’s Victorian laboratory. This gin is both delicate and powerful at once, with the light glissando of botanical notes matching the intense juniper and pine. A truly excellent product in every respect!
