A Guyanese rum bottled by famous Calvados producer Château du Breuil as part of its Rum Explorer range.
The spirit itself was created by Guyanese producer Demerara Distillers, and made from a base of molasses, before being distilled in a pot still and aged for between two to five years, followed by a finishing period in the cellars of Château du Breuil. This included a stay in some ex-Oloroso sherry casks. The rum has been made in the traditional Guyanese ‘high ester’ style.
The end result is a rum that offers notes of banana, red berries, caramel, ripe pineapple, dried fruits, plums, sweet wine, some mineralic edge and a touch of funky vegetation, treacle, earthy spice and sherried oak.
Extremely rich and aromatic, this is an excellent example of the Guyanese style, given a Breuil twist.
