A lovely little gift pack of Welsh Single Malt! This whisky is produced at Penderyn distillery, the only malt whisky distillery currently operating in Wales, and is based in the Brecon Beacons. This cracking trio of small bottles is made up of the Myth, Legend and Celt bottlings, matured in former Bourbon barrels, with the latter two being finished in Madeira and peated casks respectively. The Myth is a great representation of the distillery’s style, with the Bourbon cask maturation presenting a whisky which is buttery, approachable and cereal forward. The Legend also demonstrates the importance of cask finishes to Penderyn, often used in making their whiskies. This dram is rich and sweet, with a succulent white grape note. The Celt bottling adds a peaty complexity, with a rich woodsmoke and sweet cereal note, whilst the approachable cereal nature remains at the heart of this dram. This selection of bottlings is a great opportunity to get to grips with this distillery, and would make a perfect present for any whisky drinker!
