Previously only available at 41% or as a single cask, this cracking Portwood expression is bottled at 46% ABV. Penderyn was the first distillery in over 100 years to open in Wales when it began producing in 2004. In this short time the Brecon Beacon distillery has become well known for producing some excellent cask finished drams. This is a great example, with this whisky pairing Penderyn’s fruity sweet style, with the jammy red fruit notes of port. On the nose this whisky offers up aromas of chocolate, woodspice and strawberries. The palate adds further red fruits: cherries and plums, with a little grapey red wine. The whisky boasts a full and buttery mouthfeel. The finish is long and fruity, with a little drying woodspice. This whisky is non-chill-filtered, ensuring that the drinker gets to enjoy maximum flavour!
