A delicious, Port-influenced. Welsh single malt whisky from Penderyn Distillery.
This dram was originally created for the Travel Retail market. Faraday is named after Dr David Faraday, who led the creation of Penderyn’s unique still (Faraday is also a direct descendent of Sir Michael Faraday, an important scholar of electricity in the 19th century).
The Faraday still consists of a pot still base beneath a tall rectifying column - as you would find in a traditional column still. This design allows Penderyn to practise single distillation as the spirit comes off the still at 92% ABV. This whisky was initially aged in former Bourbon barrels, before being finished in ex-Ruby port casks.
The result is a spirit that brings notes of gentle stone fruit and berries, plums, grapes, and raisins, perfumed flowers, vanilla, creamy malt, figs, cinnamon, walnuts and drying oak.
Bottled at 46% ABV and without chill filtration, this is a medium bodied and well-balanced offering from Penderyn.
