Zuidam’s Millstone range has gone a long way to establishing Holland as an up and coming region in the World Whisky industry, and with releases like this, it is easy to see why.
This is a wonderfully well-crafted whisky, made with grain entirely milled by Dutch windmills (which feature prominently on the packaging).
A single cask bottling drawn from an American Oak barrel, after 7 years of maturation. The spirit is heavily peated, and feisty with its youth, but the brief aging process is enough to temper the peat smoke a little, and offer sweeter notes of vanilla, toffee, coconut, tropical fruit, pressed flowers and honey.
This dram is bottled at a cask strength of 51.2% ABV, and without chill filtration or colouration.
Each bottle is hand-numbered, and beautifully presented.
Millstone continue to impress.
