A delightful VS Cognac from esteemed producers François Voyer.
The estate of François Voyer can be found in the communes of Verrières and Ambleville in the premier cru of Grande Champagne. The domaine dates back to the time of the French Revolution, whilst the company has been distilling since the 1870s. The family owned Cognac house remains one of few in the industry to continue to distil their own wine. With such a long history, they also benefit from having one of the deepest cellar reserves in the industry.
Voyer continue to use many meticulous and old fashioned techniques. Their spirit is made entirely from Ugni Blanc grapes grown on their Grande Champagne small vineyards. The wine is fermented using different yeasts depending on the climatic conditions. Double distillation occurs in traditional Charentaise alembics, with the lees included. Finally, the heart of the spirit is selected in the traditional method, by the Distillers’ sense of smell!
This bottling, the name of which means “the land of Grande Champagne” has been aged in French Limousin oak casks for a minimum of two years. The Cognac serves up notes of yeasted bread, subtle flowers, slight oak, dried apricots, toffee, light vanilla and white grapes.
A beautifully crafted, bright and fruity Cognac.
