A well aged Pineau liqueur from historic Cognac producers François Voyer.
The Vieux Blanc expression sits at the top of their mini-range of Pineau bottlings. Pineau des Charentes is a traditional aperitif of the Charente region, which contains Cognac. For this bottling, François Voyer combine white grape musts together with Cognac. The grape juice is blended with spirit just after harvest, when it is at its most flavoursome and vibrant. The Pineau is then aged in oak barrels for 5 years, much longer than the standard 18 months.
The result is a deeply complex and flavoursome aperitif, that serves up notes of rich dried fruit, Cognac spice, oak, vanilla, flowers, sweet white grapes and peaches.
Traditionally enjoyed before a meal, Pineau also does well as a digestif, or served up in a cocktail.
