Chateau de Montifaud are highly regarded, often ranked as one of the very best producers in the Cognac industry. It is easy to see why: the family owned company creates some of the very best spirit in the region, putting the owning Vallet family’s 6 generations of experience to full use.

Like all of the Domaine’s Cognacs, this XO bottling is produced using strictly grapes grown in the Petite Champagne cru, ranked as one of the finest in the Cognac region. Furthermore, Montifaud maintains a vineyard which has been in Vallet family ownership since 1837. This vineyard is ideally placed to produce grapes for Cognac, with flat earth that receives plenty of sunlight, and chalky earth which provides the perfect level of acidity.

French law dictates that all XO Cognacs must be aged for a minimum of 6 years. However, Montifaud are quite well known for aging their spirit for much longer than the legal requirement. This spirit has been aged in French oak casks in Montifaud’s cellars, a cool and dry location that is ideal for long maturation times.

Drinkers should expect decadent and intense flavours of toffee, dried fruit, white grapes, peaches, vanilla, dark oak, baking spices and baked apples with a little pressed flowers. An incredibly indulgent and enjoyable Cognac.
