An expansive vision of the XO category created by the fantastic Château de Montifaud. Montifaud are one of the region’s most traditional producers, now in their 6th generation of family ownership. Montifaud maintain a small, but perfectly formed vineyard which is entirely encompassed by the most prestigious Petite and Grand Champagne crus. This vineyard has an excellent level of clay in the soil, making for the ideal amount of acidity in the grape which in turn makes for the most flavoursome spirit. On this sunny plateau, the Cognac house maintains Ugni Blanc, Colombard and Folle Blanche grape varieties, which are all used to create their complex cognacs.
This particular bottling uses grapes grown entirely in the Petite Champagne region. The youngest of the eau-de-vie in this blend is 6 years old, with much of the Cognac far older than this, as indicated by the bottling’s incredible depth of flavour. Drinkers should expect notes of polished wood, rancio, toasted almond and rich, dried grapes. The Cognac is presented in a phenomenal decanter style bottling with an eye-catching over-sized gold closure, embossed details and an ultra-modern clear case. One that is sure to stand out in any collection or bar, for all the right reasons. Another fantastic Château de Montifaud Cognac!
