A big bottle of Calvados produced by the Boulard company, who have been family owned and distilling since 1825. The name “Grand Solage” translates roughly as “great joy”!
This bottling is produced in the Coquainvilliers commune of Normandy, and made with over 120 different apple varieties, from the Pays d’Auge region. The spirit is double distilled in traditional alembics, and aged for between 2 to 5 years in a mixture of casks, producing a well balanced Calvados.
The final result serves up notes of fresh yeasty, bread, vanilla oak, apple flavoured boiled sweets, crunchy green apples, sweet cider, nutmeg, hay, cinnamon and pastry.
A great sipping and mixing Calvados, this has autumnal feel perfect for the cooler months.
