A high quality Calvados from Normandy producer Boulard. Boulard is a family owned distillery, that has been passed down from generation to generation since 1825, when it was first established by Pierre-August Boulard. The distillery is found close to the Coquainvilliers commune of Calvados.
This Calvados contains apple eau-de-vie aged for between 2 and 5 years, with the spirit having been double distilled in pot stills, following a traditional production of dry cider, made from over 120 different varieties of apples, sourced from 500 different orchards. 20% of the apples used are grown at the distillery.
The final result is a floral and complex Calvados with notes of acidic apple, apple pie, cinnamon, vanilla, grass, green apple skin, light oak and slight yeasty bread.
Vivid and delicious, this is a great introduction to the world of Calvados.
