A thoroughly modern Dutch Genever from the historic Bols distillery, said to be the oldest distillery still operating, having been established in 1575.
21 is named after the century in which the old Bols Genever recipe was reimagined, the 21st. This bottling was created through a partnership between Lucas Bols (the Master Distiller) and Casper Reinders, a leading figure of Amsterdam’s nightlife and owners of several bars in the city.
This recipe uses a lighter malt wine content and includes more floral botanicals to create a more approachable and refreshing flavour profile. The final result is a sweet, well balanced genenver, with notes of pastry, malt, flowers, juniper, peppery spice and slight nuts.
A bartender’s dream, this bottling is super versatile, working well in cocktails, or when served neat or as a shot. Bols suggest serving 21 Genever with a splash of Maraschino and topping up with lemon ice tea.
It also pairs excellently with a good quality Dutch larger.
