A well aged version of Bertrand’s take on this classic French aperitif.
Pineau is made using a combination of fresh grape juice and youthful Cognac spirit. This bottling combines Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, mixed with one year old eaux-de-vie at a 3:1 ratio.
The grapes for this Pineau have been selected from 30 year old vines grown at the estate’s Petite Fine Champagne vineyards. The chalky soil of the domain, combined with the well-established vines ensures grapes with a superb concentration of flavour.
After blending, the liqueur is matured for 15 years in French oak casks from Limousin and Tronçais forests adding wonderful depth and complexity to the product. The result is a Pineau with notes of rich red fruits (strawberries, cherries and blackcurrant), vanilla, toffee, deep wood and subtle spice.
Serve well chilled, and alongside chocolate or creamy desserts. Also works well served neat as an aperitif.
