A Christmas bottling from mainland Scotland’s most northerly distillery, Wolfburn.
This bottling is a slightly different version of their core expression, Northland. Like that whisky, this expression has been aged in Quarter Casks previously used to age Laphroaig’s Quarter Cask expression. The spirit has been aged for between 3 to 5 years, and is vatted together for consistency and balanced.
The final result is a wonderfully spritely and characterful dram, that offers notes of citrus zest, subtle iodine and peat, nuts, green grapes, honey, toffee, sweet oak, Christmas spices, brown sugar and honeyed malt.
To have developed such an intense and deeply flavoured whisky in such as short space of time is testament to the concentration of talent at Wolfburn.
The whisky is beautifully presented in a yuletide themed bottle – of which only 600 were produced. Bottled at 46% and without chill filtration.
