The third batch of this stupendously well aged single malt from Highland distillery, Tomatin.
The spirit was aged for no less than three decades in a combination of former Bourbon American oak barrels (with a fair portion of first-fill in the mix), and “traditional oak casks” – one imagines this means refill whisky barrels.
Tomatin 30 delivers notes of rich floral honey, toffee, ginger, some sweet herbal tea, fresh flowers, vanilla custard, light leather, malty biscuits, dried mango and apricot, a little coconut, pencil shavings, supple sweet oak and soft cinnamon.
An approachable venerable dram, which is bottled at 46% ABV and without chill filtration or colouration.
Only 2,000 bottles were produced.
