A top notch release from Tomatin distillery. This whisky was originally a travel retail exclusive, but luckily we managed to get our hands on a few bottles. Tomatin is an often overlooked Highland distillery, which as at one point one of the largest in Scotland with 23 stills running.
Nowadays its output is much smaller, focusing on the distillery’s in-house blends Antiquary and Talisman, and Tomatin’s range of single malts. This particular dram was matured in refill White American oak for 15 years, imparting to the naturally malty, honey-rich and spicy spirit of Tomatin a beautiful vanilla sweetness, some dark chocolate notes and a soft citrus quality.
Bottled at 46% ABV, this has given these flavours an extra intensity, allowing the true nature of this dram to take hold.
Truly excellent stuff from the fine folk at Tomatin.
I love this lovely fruity expression with the oak finish.
A perfect starter for me when I am going move to more intense and peated drams.
I love it...grabbed it at duty free in Cambodia this year...85/100
I think it is a great Whisky and a fantastic value.
I was able to pick this up at a duty free shop in Cambodia a few months ago.
Perfect for starting an evening of Whisky off with.
