The 2009 edition of St. Lucia Distillery’s popular Chairman’s Reserve rum.
This spirit was made with a blend of 11 year old rums distilled in the distillery’s famous John Dore 2 and Vendome pot stills, and in a coffey still.
Each of these rums has been independently aged for 11 years in ex-Bourbon barrels, before being blended together by St. Lucia’s head blender, Deny Duplessis. Following this combination, the spirit has been introduced to oak casks for a few more months, ensuring a full integration of flavours and a well balanced final product.
The end result is a complex and tropical rum, with notes of raisins, toffee, banana, tobacco, pineapple, oak, cinnamon, vanilla, buttered toast, leather, dark chocolate, candied citrus and guava.
Bottled at 46% ABV, this is an excellent example of the St. Lucia style - both weighty and intense, and supple and fragrant.
