A rare Sherry cask rum (Xérès is French for Sherry) from Savanna.

This spirit is distilled from freshly fermented sugarcane juice, in the traditional Agricole manner.

Savanna’s rum was distilled in 2002, and aged initially in ex-Cognac casks, before a finishing period in former Sherry barrels, which have produced a dram rich in character and flavour.

The bottling serves up notes of rich dried red fruits (cranberries, strawberries and cherries), plums, prunes, figs, tropical fruits (dried pineapple and mashed banana), old oak, bright sugarcane, tobacco and vanilla.

A very impressive offering from the Réunion-based distillery. The rum has been bottled at 46% and without chill filtration, making for a fuller body.
