A terrific cask-finished rum from Distillerie Savanna.
Savanna is based on the Island of Réunion, found in the Indian Ocean. This overseas French department is rich with sugar cane, and perfect for making rum.
This bottling was distilled in 2002, and bottled on the 27th of August 2009, with a final age of 6 years. The spirit has been finished for a while in Muscatel wine casks, following an initial maturation in Cognac casks (the French connection strikes again!)
The limited edition rum offers up notes of ripe white grapes, peaches in syrup, vanilla, grassy sugar cane, lime juice, white pepper, sultanas, coconut, tobacco, milk chocolate and light oak.
A wonderful, rather sweet rendition of Savanna’s spirit, the rum is bottled at 46% and without chill filtration or colouration.
