A fantastic vintage bottling from Panamanian rum company, Malecon.
Although based in Panama, Malecon take great inspiration from traditional Cuban rums, using the recipes and techniques of the famous rum-producing nation. Indeed, the name Malecon is taken from one of Havana’s best known streets.
This rum was produced in a mystery Panamanian distillery in 1979. It was then allowed to mature in white oak barrels until 2008, when it was bottled. At nearly 30 years old, this is an incredible age for a rum, giving it an astonishing complexity and depth.
The rum delivers flavours of tobacco, cedarwood, peppery spice, toffee, oak, vanilla, ginger, bananas, dark brown sugar, dried fruits, clove, milk chocolate, cinnamon, nutmeg, bananas and dried mango.
A cut above the other Malecon rums we have encountered, this is a bottling of unrelenting class.
