An incredible Panamanian rum from distillers Rum Malecon. Two factors set Rum Malecon apart in terms of quality and heritage. First amongst these is the extraordinarily high quality sugar cane grown they source locally in Panama. Secondly is the ancient rum recipes and techniques taken from Cuba to Panama by the company. This rum has been fully aged for 21 years in former Bourbon American oak casks, separating it from its solera-aged fellows. This maturation has given the rum a terrific complexity, with a mixture of delicate and dense flavours throughout.

On the nose the rum greets the drinker with beautiful aromas of coffee, dense oak, dried plums and toffee, sweet cane and citrus peel. The palate is packed with gloriously juicy tropical fruit, sweet vanilla, orange peels, woodspice (cinnamon and nutmeg), dried apricot and charred oak. The finish seems ever lasting, with a beautiful balance between dry and sweet notes, and a wonderful lasting woodspice. A well-aged rum that avoids being over-oaked, resulting in superb quality. This rum picked the title of Rum of the Year in the 2012 International Wine and Spirits Competition.
