A top quality, long aged and single vintage rum from Panamanian company, Rum Malecon.
This bottling forms part of their Rare Proof series, which presents their spirit at a higher proof, and draws upon only the finest vintages. Malecon continue to make their spirit to traditional Cuban recipes, and indeed, the brand is named after Havana’s most famous street.
The rum has been distilled in a single column still from “the best sugarcane molasses”. This Malecon spirit has been aged in oak barrels for 20 years.
This 1999 vintage delivers superb notes of dark leather, tea, molasses, bananas, mango, pineapple, coconut, sweet oak, cigar smoke, dried apricot, prunes, allspice and slight coffee.
Complex, fruity and slightly drying, the rum has been presented at 48.4% ABV for a little more intensity.
A beauty, one of the best bottlings produced by this distillery.
