A relatively recent addition to Piper-Heidsieck’s range, this non vintage Cuvée Champagne was first launched in 2017.
Created by the legendary winemaker, Regis Camus, 8 times winner of the title Sparkling Winemaker of the Year. Camus wanted to produce a high quality, extra-brut Champagne for connoisseurs of non-vintage bottlings.
This wine has been made with a mixture of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay grapes from 100 different crus. The base wine is a 2011 vintage, but the bottling also contains reserve wines which are up to 5 years old. The wine has been aged for four years prior to disgorgement, adding complexity and depth to the final product.
This wine is bright and ardent, with notes of lemon, grapefruit flesh, a little brioche and almond, apples, grapes, vanilla and a light minerality. The wine pours a light straw colour with small persistent bubbles and a white foam.
Essentiel Cuvée Réservée has been dosed to 5g/l and offers a pure flavour of Piper-Heidsieck’s fruity, well-structured style.
An excellent, affordable bottling from this grand marque producer.
