An excellent non vintage Champagne from Piper-Heidsieck.
This is a historic Champagne House, having been founded in the Reims region of Champagne in 1785, by Florens-Louis Heidsieck. The brand as we know it was born in 1839, when Heidsieck joined forces with Piper.
Since the early 21st century, Piper-Heidsieck has been widely recognised as making some of the most consistently delicious Champagne on the market. Indeed, the head winemaker of Piper-Heidsieck, Chef de Cave, Régis Camus, is nothing short of an industry legend, having picked up the International Wine Challenge’s coveted Sparkling Winemaker of the Year award no less than 8 times!
This wine is made with 55% Pinot Noir, 25% Pinot Meunier and 20% Chardonnay, drawn from around a 100 different crus across the Champagne region. The Champagne has been aged on lees for between 2-3 years, and also has between 10-20% reserve wines depending on the batch.
A medium bodied wine with a fine beaded bubble, this bottling offers flavours of toasty brioche, slight chalk, citrus, green apple, apricot, fresh grape blossom, almonds, white peach, and a little melon.
A vivacious, yet well balanced Champagne, this is one of the best value Grand Marque champagnes on the market today.
