A single malt Scotch whisky from Old Pulteney distillery.
This dram forms part of the distillery’s Flotilla Vintage range, which presents Pulteney’s spirit from a single year – in this case, 2010. Flotilla means a small fleet of boats, and presumably takes some inspiration from the fact that Pulteney distillery could only be reached by sea for much of its history.
The whisky has been aged for a decade in American oak barrels, giving it rich characteristics of vanilla and sweet oak, but allowing the coastal profile of Pulteney’s spirit to shine through.
Old Pulteney Flotilla 2010 offers notes of sea spray, vanilla ice cream, pastry custard, cinnamon, nutmeg, pepper, a touch of kelpy iodine, white plums, caramel, gentle oak, toasted malt, apples, pear, beeswax and sweet barley.
A single vintage dram with a good age statement, bottled at 46% for extra body and warmth, this is a well-made drop that ticks all the boxes.
