An interesting release from the Kinahan’s Irish whiskey brand.

This whiskey has been aged in an innovative cask (or kasc) which is made from five different kinds of wood – the most notable of which is chestnut!

The other woods used are Portuguese, American, French and Hungarian oak. The end result is a whisky that offers notes of apples, pears, plums, caramel, vanilla, nutty chocolate, nutmeg, chestnut paste, buttered toast, mango, brown sugar and waxy orange rind.

The chestnut is definitely detectable, and gives this spirit a unique profile.
