Produced by the Belgian distillery Filliers, which has been in action since 1880., and remains family-run.
Genever has grown in popularity in recent years, yet the industry remains small and change is rare. So it caused a bit of a stir when Filliers, the largest Genever producer, completely overhauled their range.
Filliers have some of the oldest stock of Genever in the world, which allowed them to introduce a range of age stated Genevers that go far beyond the standard maturation of 2 or 3 years.
This 12 year old has been matured in former Bourbon casks, and offers notes of caramel, vanilla, cinnamon, juniper, oak, cut grass, herbs and slight bitter citrus.
A really interesting, older Genever that should be drunk neat, like a fine whisky.
